A Night On The Town

My son just has to do something special on Saturdays. A few weeks ago, we had a cold and rainy Saturday, and he couldn’t stand it. We both like to dress up, so he suggested we dress up and go out to dinner. There are very few restaurants in our small town, and fewer that are open in the off season. So just before I called the cab, I called our favorite restaurant, and the owner told me they were closed until March 1. We were a little overdressed, but we ended up going to a pizza place. We pretended we had just come from somewhere really important, and we had a great time.
I wore a Ralph Lauren dress I had never worn before, and when I was getting ready my son actually told me I should wear my hair up. His sense of style is amazing!
Here are some pics of what we wore:

I’m the first pics of my daughter, I’m sure you can recognize the peekaboo. And in the last pic you see her asking for chocolates. She knows where they are and she knows how to get them.:)

Fashion Blogs By Women Over 40

I’m so happy that I found this site! I don’t want to write ONLY for women over 40, but since I fall into this category I do want to dress my best for my age. I don’t want to look like I am trying to look too young!

So here are Sylvia’s top ten tips for how to dress over 40:
Here are my top 10 tips on how to dress over 40 the right way!
1.Dress for your body type, both vertical and horizontal and choose clothes that flatter you and highlight your strengths.
2.Wear skirts at the right length, not too short, not too long. Just below or on top of the knee is a great length for over 40 women.
3.Get hip shoes; they can make even a boring outfit look great.
4.Wear darker, more fitted jeans.
5.Get hip spectacles that suit your face.
6.Don’t overdo the bling.
7.Show off your best parts, like your legs, bust or arms, but, dress modestly and don’t show too much cleavage.
8.Add color to your every-day wardrobe.
9.Wear the best possible bra and use shape wear to give your body the right structure. If you find shape wear too uncomfortable, use slips or pants with pipes to hide panty lines and reduce unflattering bulges.
10.Have fun dressing and show it in your clothes!

New Year’s Resolution

My New Years resolution is to grow my fashion blog enough to go to DC fashion week!

This outfit was my take on a casual outfit I saw online recently. I’m working on adding my own style to my outfits, so in this case I wore the dark floral shirt instead of the plain denim one in the original pic. I tend toward the romantic so I went with a floral theme, with floral earrings and rings. I have been dying for a chance to wear my wedge sneakers, so this was it. I have noticed that cropped jeans are in again, so I tried them out here. The Ralph Lauren vest was my venture into layering, along with the Armani t-shirt underneath. A small floral clutch completed the look.
I am not sure if I’ll do the cropped jeans again. I’m so short, I’m afraid they make me look even shorter.
