I don’t know if anyone else here is trying to follow New York Fashion Week, but I am, and it is exhausting! I am here at home in Virginia, watching the runway recaps on my laptop. I’m pretty much a recluse, so it is ideal for me to see the designs virtually. But it is really wiping me out! It’s also caused me to do some real soul searching as far as my blog goes. I’ve reached the conclusion that I want my blog to be a kind of ‘Queer Eye for the Straight Guy’ of fashion blogs. I’m writing for women like myself, who really didn’t grow up interested in fashion. But like me they have become interested now, maybe as a midlife renewal like mine. That’s why I call the blog Welfare Chic. It’s not just because I’m broke, although I am. It’s also about a bridging of two worlds. The cold reality of poverty, and the heady rush of fashion. Two extremes, and I am both of them. Life is hard, but if you find something that eases your soul, some little hobby or creative outlet, you are halfway there. If you like clothes, or think fashion is fun, check out my blog.:)
